Blue-Earth County Minnesota Public Records
Blue Earth County is located in the State of Minnesota; the county was founded on March 5, 1853 and named after the Blue Earth River the deposits of blue-green clay once evident along the banks of the Blue Earth River. Mankato is the largest city in the county and also the county seat. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the county has a population of approximately 64,013 people and a total area of 766 square miles (1,980 km2), of which 18 square miles (47 km2) (2.3%) is water and 748 square miles (1,940 km2) is land. The county has a number of cities which include: Amboy, Eagle Lake, Good Thunder, Lake Crystal, Madison Lake, Mankato, Mapleton, Minnesota Lake (partial), North Mankato (partial), Pemberton, Skyline, St. Clair and Vernon Center.
Blue Earth County borders the following counties: Nicollet County to the north, Le Sueur County to the northeast, Waseca County to the east, Faribault County to the south, Martin County to the southwest, Watonwan County to the west and Brown County to the northwest. The county has eight major highways: U.S. Highway 14, U.S. Highway 169, Minnesota State Highway 22, Minnesota State Highway 30, Minnesota State Highway 60, Minnesota State Highway 66, Minnesota State Highway 68 and Minnesota State Highway 83.
