Renville Cunty is name for Joseph Renville a fur trader. During the Dakota War of1862, Renville county was the site of many battles.

On-site visitation hours are:
Sunday – Saturday: 1:00 to 4:30 pm & 6:30 pm to 9:oo-m
Fridays: No evening Visits
Visitation occurs via video visitation. Visits are granted on a first come first serve basis. Visitors must present a photo ID and are subject to a background/warrants check. One adult visitor per visitation station. On-site visits are limited to 20 minutes. There are no in-person visitations allowed.
