Meeker Count is in the central area of Minnesota. As of the 21 census the population was 23,300 and the county seat is Litchfield. The county was named after Bradley B. Meeker, associate justice of the Minnesota Territorial Supreme Court for 1849 to 1853. Meeker County was funded on February 23, 1856.
Meeker County is about 1 hours west of Minneapolis and the county include a combination of rolling farmland and over 100 swimming and fishing lakes. The county is home to some of the state’s largest dairy and poultry operations.

Meeker County, Minnesota Jail Information
The Meeker County Detention Center provides for the secure and safe detention of offenders in Meeker County. The Center was completed in 1999. The facility is licensed to house 69 inmates. The detention center houses work release inmates as well as minimum, medium, and maximum inmates. Thee are 9 full time and 6 part time correctional officers in addition to a jail programmer and administrator. There is also a public health nurse.

Inmates are allowed 1 visit per day and a minimum of 20 minutes. Visitors must be 18 years old and present a picture ID. Cash and money orders can be left for the inmate.
