After doing a lot of changes, the county seat was changed to Ivanhoe in 1904. The total area of the county is 548 square miles. Lincoln County Sheriff's Department - MN

The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Department is responsible for enforcement of traffic laws, accident investigations, criminal investigations, crime prevention, boat & water safety and enforcement, completing civil process papers along with many additional services. The Lincoln County Law Enforcement Center has the ability to house up to 15 inmates within the jail facility. The Sheriff’s Department personnel is responsible for booking inmates into and out of the jail facility, along with transporting inmates to and from court as needed. Sheriff's Report September 18 through September 30th

Sept. 18

At 8:52 a.m., the Tyler Police Department stopped a vehicle in the City of Tyler. As a result of the stop, the driver, 37-year-old Aren Franc Hatton of Arco and a passenger, 39-year-old Jesse Lee Sharp of Marshall, were arrested on active warrants out of Redwood County for first degree burglary and fifth degree assault. A female passenger in the vehicle fled the scene.

Sept. 20

At 10:52 a.m., received information from the Brookings County Sheriff’s Office of an individual with an active felony warrant residing in the City of Ivanhoe. The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office responded and as a result, 27-year-old Adam Anthony Hartman of Brookings was arrested and later released to their agency.

Sept. 21

At 12:45 a.m., received a report of a single-vehicle accident in Hendricks Township. Inclement weather caused downed trees crossing a roadway and the driver was unable to stop before hitting them. There were no injuries.

Sept. 22

At 3:45 p.m., the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office received a report of some suspicious activity in the City of Tyler. The Tyler Police Department responded and resolved the matter.

Sept. 23

At 12:29 a.m., 20-year-old William Daniel Peterson of Tyler was stopped in Tyler and issued a citation for speed and minor consumption.

At 7:28 p.m., 56-year-old Dwayne Timothy Janssen of Ruthton was stopped in Tyler for driving after cancellation. He was arrested and charged in the matter.

Sept. 24

At 8:22 a.m., received a report of a vehicle in the ditch near Norwegian Creek in Diamond Lake Township. The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office responded and the vehicle was removed from the ditch. There were no injuries.

Sept. 25

At 4:11 p.m., received a report of a two-vehicle accident in Diamond Lake Township. The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office and Minnesota State Patrol responded to the scene. There were no injuries.

Sept. 27

At 8:15 p.m., 51-year-old Billy Franklin Baitie of Gainesville, Florida was stopped in Tyler and issued a citation for speed.

Sept. 28

At 7:50 p.m., received a report of some suspicious activity in Marshfield Township. The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office responded, but the matter was unfounded.

Sept. 29

At 4:44 p.m., received a report of a single-vehicle rollover in Royal Township. The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office, Ivanhoe Fire Department, Ivanhoe Ambulance and Minnesota State Patrol responded to the scene. The driver of the vehicle, a 39-year-old male from Urbana, Illinois was taken to the Hendricks Hospital and later air lifted to Sioux Falls for serious injuries. His current status is unknown.

At 5:18 p.m., 22-year-old Damon Michael Bayer of Brookings, South Dakota was stopped in Tyler and issued an administrative citation for speed.

Sept. 30

At 4:52 p.m., received a report of a missing juvenile female from Pipestone County that was possibly in the Tyler or Arco area and refusing to return home. The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office and Tyler Police Department later located the female at a residence near Arco and she was released to the Pipestone County Sheriff’s Office.
