The population of this county was 5,896 back in 2010 based on what is shown in the census. The county seat is called Ivanhoe and the county was started in 1873 on the western part of Lyon County. After doing a lot of changes, the county seat was changed to Ivanhoe in 1904. The total area of the county is 548 square miles. Lincoln County Sheriff's Department - MN

The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Department is responsible for enforcement of traffic laws, accident investigations, criminal investigations, crime prevention, boat & water safety and enforcement, completing civil process papers along with many additional services. The Lincoln County Law Enforcement Center has the ability to house up to 15 inmates within the jail facility. The Sheriff’s Department personnel is responsible for booking inmates into and out of the jail facility, along with transporting inmates to and from court as needed. Sheriff's Report Feb. 1 through Feb. 28

Feb. 1

At 6:17 p.m., 34-year-old Joshua Lee Berglund of Russell was stopped in Marshfield Township. He was later arrested and charged with DWI.

Feb. 2

At 4:46 p.m., the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office received a report of an argument in Lake Benton. The Lake Benton Police Department and Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene. As a result, 39-year-old Scott Allen Leeson of Tyler was arrested and charged with domestic assault.

Feb. 7

At 7:34 a.m., the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a burglary in Tyler. The Tyler Police Department is currently investigating the matter.

At 2:22 p.m., received a report of a theft in Ivanhoe. The Ivanhoe Police Department was advised of the matter and it was later resolved by the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office.

Feb. 8

At 9:10 a.m., received a report of some trespassing in Hansonville Township. The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office responded and the matter was passed along to the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources.

Feb. 9

At 10:10 a.m., the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office received a report of some harassing communications in Tyler. The Tyler Police Department is investigating the situation.

Feb. 11

At 7:23 p.m., received a report of a vehicle that had gone off the roadway in Shaokatan Township. The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office arrived and the vehicle was later extracted from the ditch. There were no injuries.

At 8:32 p.m., the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a burglary in Lake Benton. The matter is currently under investigation by the Lake Benton Police Department.

Feb. 12

At 1:15 p.m., received a report of identity theft in Royal Township. The matter is currently under investigation by the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office.

At 6:40 p.m., received a report of a burglary at a business in Hendricks. The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office is investigating.

Feb. 13

At 3:06 p.m., the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office received a report of an attempted break-in in Tyler. The Tyler Police Department responded and is currently monitoring the area.

Feb. 14

At 3:04 p.m., the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a two-vehicle accident in Tyler. The Tyler Police Department responded and handled the incident. There were no injuries.

At 5:19 p.m., received a report of an argument in Arco. The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office responded and the incident was resolved.

Feb. 15

At 10:50 p.m., received a report of some harassing communications in Hope Township. The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office handled the matter.

Feb. 16

At 2:32 p.m., 22-year-old Kassandra Elizabeth Niska of Nisland, South Dakota was stopped in Diamond Lake Township and issued a citation for speed.

At 4:22 p.m., received a report of a two-vehicle accident just into Lyon County. The Tyler Fire Department, Tyler Ambulance and Tyler Police Department responded to the scene. There were no injuries.

At 8:28 p.m., 46-year-old Deborah Jo Engelking of Andover was stopped in Tyler and issued a citation for speed.

Feb. 17

At 10:42 p.m., received a report of some damage to property in Hendricks. The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene and the incident was resolved.

Feb. 18

At 2:02 a.m., the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a verbal argument in Tyler. The Lake Benton Police Department and Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office responded and the issue was resolved.

At 3:46 p.m., 55-year-old John Albert Colbert of Minneapolis was stopped in Tyler and issued a citation for speed.

Feb. 21

At 11:07 p.m., received a report of a fight in Tyler. The Lake Benton Police Department, Ivanhoe Police Department and Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene and handled the incident.

Feb. 22

At 1:52 p.m., 30-year-old Craig Ryan Johnson of Canby was arrested in Marble Township on a warrant from the Minnesota Department of Corrections. He was housed in the Lincoln County Jail and later released to another agency.

At 4:29 p.m., the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a gas drive-off in Ivanhoe. The Ivanhoe Police Department responded and the matter was resolved.

Feb. 23

At 9:40 a.m., received a report of a trail groomer on fire in Ash Lake Township. The Ivanhoe Fire Department, Ivanhoe Ambulance and Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office responded and the fire was extinguished. There were no injuries.

At 5:16 p.m., received a report of a verbal dispute in Hendricks. The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office, Ivanhoe Police Department and Lake Benton Police Department responded and handled the situation.

Feb. 25

At 9:39 a.m., the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a theft in Tyler. The Tyler Police Department was advised of the report and it was later resolved.

At 7:02 p.m., the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a verbal argument in Tyler. The Tyler Police Department responded and handled the situation.

Feb. 26

At 4:32 p.m., received a report of a snowmobile accident near Ruthton. The call was transferred to Pipestone County and the Tyler Ambulance responded as mutual aid.

At 4:41 p.m., the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a possible assault at a business in Tyler. The Tyler Police Department responded and the incident was just a misunderstanding.

At 6:53 p.m., received a report of a gas drive-off in Lake Benton. The Lake Benton Police Department responded and the matter was resolved.

Feb. 27

At 7:43 p.m., 19-year-old McKenzie Kaylin Henning of Sioux Falls, South Dakota was stopped in Tyler and issued a citation for speed.

At 8:41 p.m., the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a burglary in Lake Benton. The Lake Benton Police Department responded and is currently investigating the matter.

Feb. 28

At 12:49 p.m., 51-year-old Leonard Mart Gorter of Lake Benton was arrested in Lake Benton on warrants out of several counties. He was later released to another agency.

MISSING DOG! 6 miles north of Lake Benton. She was last seen on Monday April 16, 2018. Sadie isn’t one to go far from the acreage. We really think someone picked her up. Orange collar. She has pretty blue eyes, white spots on feet and chest. Chocolate lab mix. She is really missed!
