Crow Wing County is located in the state of Minnesota; the county was formed in 1857, organized in 1870 and named after Crow Wing River. Brainerd is the largest city in the county and also the county seat. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the county has a population of approximately 62,500 people and a total area of 1,157 square miles (3,000 km2), of which 157 square miles (410 km2) (14%) is water and 999 square miles (2,590 km2) is land. The county has a number of cities which include:  Baxter, Brainerd (county seat), Breezy Point, Crosby, Crosslake, Cuyuna, Deerwood, Emily, Fifty Lakes, Fort Ripley, Garrison, Ironton, Jenkins, Manhattan Beach, Nisswa, Pequot Lakes, Riverton and Trommald.

Crow Wing County borders the following counties: Aitkin County to the northeast, Mille Lacs County to the southeast, Morrison County to the southwest and Cass County to the northwest, north. The county has six major highways which include: Minnesota State Highway 6, Minnesota State Highway 18, Minnesota State Highway 25, Minnesota State Highway 210, Minnesota State Highway 309 and Minnesota State Highway 371.
