Becker County Minnesota Public Records

Becker County is located in the state of Minnesota; the county was created in 1858 and organized in 1871. Detroit Lakes is the largest city in the county and also the county seat. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the county has a population of approximately 32,504 people and a total area of 1,445 square miles (3,740 km2), of which 130 square miles (340 km2) (9.0%) is water and 1,315 square miles (3,410 km2) is land. Cities in the county include Audubon, Callaway, Detroit Lakes, Frazee, Lake Park, Ogema and Wolf Lake.

Becker County borders the following counties: Mahnomen County to the north, Clearwater County to the northeast, Hubbard County to the northeast, Wadena County to the south east, Otter Tail County to the south, Clay County to the west and Norman County to the northwest.    Hamden Slough National Wildlife Refuge and Tamarac National Wildlife Refuge are the only National protected areas in the county. Major highways that pass through the county include: U.S. Highway 10, U.S. Highway 59, Minnesota State Highway 34, Minnesota State Highway 87, Minnesota State Highway 113, Minnesota State Highway 224 and Minnesota State Highway 225.
