Anoka County Minnesota Public Records

Anoka County is located in the state of Minnesota; the county was created on May 23, 1857 and named after the City of Anoka. The name Anoka was derived from the Dakota word anokatanhan meaning “on (or from) both sides,” referring to its location on the banks of the Rum River. The City of Coon Rapids is the largest city in the county, the twelfth largest city in Minnesota and the seventh largest Twin Cities suburb. The county seat is the City of Anoka. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the county has a population of approximately 330, 844 people and a total area of 446 square miles (1,160 km2), of which 23 square miles (60 km2) (5.2%) is water and 423 square miles (1,100 km2) is land.

Cities in the county include Andover, Anoka, Bethel, Blaine, Centerville, Circle Pines, Columbia Heights, Columbus, Coon Rapids, East Bethel, Fridley, Ham Lake, Hilltop, Lexington, Lino Lakes, Nowthen, Oak Grove,   Ramsey, St. Francis and Spring Lake Park. Anoka County borders the following counties:  Isanti County to the north, Chisago County to the northeast, Washington County to the southeast, Ramsey County to the southeast,  Hennepin County to the southwest and Sherburne County to the northwest.
